Coming Soon: Schools Microchipping Your Children?

A school district, in Texas, has approved a program that will track every move a student makes.

The Northside School District, in San Antonio, plans to place a G.P.S. tracking device in each student’s I.D. card. School officials say it’s a good idea, because it will lower the class tardiness and absences.

It was reported, from the video above, that the school district loses $175,000 a day in state funding for tardy or absent students. School officials believe the microchips will prevent the district from losing money.

However the students, and their parents, have strongly voiced their opposition to these new G.P.S. devices. Andrea Hernandez, who is a student in the school district, refuses to wear the chip due to her religious beliefs. According to the blog “God Discussion“:

The choice has not been without controversy, as several parents have come forward with negative comments regarding their children.

Hernandez is claiming religious principles for refusing to carry her ID card, stating that she believes it is satanic, specifically calling it the “mark of the beast,” in reference to one of the interpretations of Christian biblical prophecy as outlined in the apocalyptic book, Revelation.

Northside School district officials have warned students that if they do not wear their tracking devices, they will be expelled.

What do you think of this idea? Is microchipping your children too invasive? Post your comments below, and let us know what you think.
