Last night, Larry King shocked the world with an announcement concerning his desire to bring his night show “Larry King Live” on CNN to an end this fall. The surprising details came via the TV broadcasting legend’s Twitter profile just before he taped yesterday evening’s show.

TV broadcasting legend Larry King has decided to end his nightly show on CNN this fall after 25 years.

TV broadcasting legend Larry King has decided to end his nightly show on CNN this fall after 25 years.

King has been at the top of his game in TV broadcasting for the last 25 years. He claims CNN has graciously accepted his requests to end the show which allow for him to spend more time with his family.

King’s record breaking show was recently named in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the longest running talk show featuring same host in the same time slot.

King also plans to continue working with CNN, just not on-air as he’s done so eloquently over the last 25 years. Larry King also joins a few others like Oprah Winfrey and Barbara Walters who have also decided to bring their long-lasting television segments and talk shows to an end after decades of equally successful runs.

What does this mean for the younger generation of TV broadcasters and personalities? Are there more opportunities available or are we losing our legends one by one?
